Bahire lot — a name that translates from Kirundi to mean "Be Well." It is an uplifting wish and a testament to the community's drive toward continuous improvement.
For years, the export team at JNP Coffee noticed a fascinating pattern in their cupping labs. One specific, unnamed coffee from the region consistently scored higher and tasted cleaner than all the other fine coffees around it. Driven by curiosity, they set out to track down the exact source. Their search eventually led them to a singular, isolated hillside. The secret wasn't a trick of processing; it was the incredible, distinct terroir of that specific micro-climate.

  In Kirundi, "ntwari" signifies courage and leadership, qualities that this coffee truly represents. Cultivated in Buhumuza Province at an elevation of 1,680 meters, the Burundi Ntwari is the result of one woman's inspiring journey from widowhood to becoming a prominent voice and mentor in a predominantly male industry. She now empowers the next generation of women farmers through her expanding coffee business.
